How to take apart ("deep clean") your Mighty Mouse

Previously I tried to clean my mouse without dismantling it and had more or less success with it. However yesterday the ball stopped to do its job (no scrolling on the screen regardless how hard I tried to roll the ball). This time I decided that more serious measures have to be taken. I've found this page where somebody kindly documented the process of taking apart a Mighty Mouse and included a number of photos as well.

The page is a little bit tricky Smiling, because loading it in Firefox showed only a blank page for me, but in Safari it worked right away. However you can work this around by disabling JavaScript, which you can easily do just for a single tab in your brower with the Tab Mix Plus extension. Actually looking at the JavaScript of the page shows me that it does some tweaking with transparent GIFs, PNGs and some hack for IE. So it is not meant to hide the page from FF users, it's just "Safari-optimized", which eventually breaks in FF. Smiling
