FreeNAS

FreeNAS sounds like the perfect tool for a home storage+download server. Smiling Since it's based on m0n0wall (which is written in PHP) I suppose I could install TorrentFlux into it. So here's the deal: get a low-power x86 system (eg. a thin client or some embedded, all-in-one motherboard in a small case) and plug some external HDD(s) into it, install FreeNAS and TorrentFlux and you've got a decent file and torrent server for home. Smiling

For me NAS is equivalent to

For me NAS is equivalent to X4500 (the same in hungarian) 48 SATA disks in one machine, available with 500GB HDDs - thats 48TB! ^_^

Re: For me NAS is equivalent to

Hmm ... if I had to choose between a new car and this fancy NAS unit (starting from a price of 24000$), I'm sure I'd pick the right one. Laughing out loud

Install Freenas with Torrentflux

Has anybody done it yet? Install TorrentFlux onto FreeNas?

Re: Install Freenas with Torrentflux

Noop, not yet.

Torrentflux + FreeNAS

Have you found out more on how to combine TorrentFlux and FreeNAS? That would be the perfect closet server combo.

Re: Torrentflux + FreeNAS

No, not yet. Actually I didn't try. Since my WD My Book II started to work reliably with my Mac (after I've installed Leopard from scratch), my plans to get an external storage server (a small and quiet unit running eg. FreeNAS + TorrentFlux) have lost a lot in priority.
