Performance of Aperture 2 vs Aperture 3 on Leopard

It seems that either Aperture 3 has been seriously geared towards Snow Leopard or it's just generally slower than the previous version. I've found that Aperture 2 (v2.1.4) is two to three times faster to work with on my Leopard (v10.5.8) than Aperture 3 (v3.0.3). Sad

How to force Aperture to rebuild a project's thumbnails

You've to remove the "AP.Thumbnails" file before starting Aperture. After startup, the application will automatically rebuild the thumbnail cache ... this might take a while. For more details, here's the forum post where the solution is described.

Aperture minimal requirements? :-o

People kept asking me why in the hell am I going to buy a "brutal" MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM and an ATI X1600 graphics card with 256MB RAM? I just took a look at the minimum system requirements of Apple's Aperture, a photo-management software aimed at "pro photographers" (as the PR of Apple states Smiling ). Interestingly the "recommended" configuration is almost the same as the minimal. It seems as if Apple designed Aperture exactly for the MacBook Pro owners. Shocked
