Fixing hangs of Snow Leopard caused by torrent clients

Using a torrent client with lots of connections my (Snow) Leopard used to get stalled (it just hangs and no app seems to be responding, but the GUI remains mostly functional though). The solution seems to be a bit of a network tweaking.

Helios Odyssey: storage unit with torrent support

Helios Odyssey is capable of handling 1TB internal storage (via hard drives that one can build in) and has 3 USB ports and the firmware supports torrent downloads (and Emule, but who cares for that Smiling). Unfortunately there's no RAID option, but for torrents one does not really need RAID. Smiling

Releaselog: a news site about warez releases

I use it mostly to keep updated on movies and TV shows, but the site contains news of apps and games releases too. The good stuff is that it used to include torrent links too. Smiling

The Pirate Bay: torrent tracker

A huge and public torrent tracker. It's one of the biggest public servers (ie. not requiring you to register or be invited) out there. You'll find most new movies and TV series here (and of course everything else too Smiling).

Mininova: torrent search engine

One of the biggest torrent search engines out there. It means this site does not serve as a tracker itself, it just indexes real trackers. I use this all the time. Smiling

Heroes vs. trackers :-o

The first episode of the second season of Heroes was aired just a couple of hours ago and this morning my main torrent trackers are down. I wonder whether this is just a coincidence or maybe people overloaded them with requests to the point where the trackers had to give up? Shocked
