"Contactless" credit cards with RFID are easily hacked

Interesting article from the New York Times: Researchers see privacy pitfalls in no-swipe credit cards

Actually I'd prefer if credit card issuers would ship their cards in an RFID-secure wallet so owners have an out-of-the-box solution for keeping their cards secure (preventing unauthorized RFID-scans).

Do you remember the movie "Minority report" with Tom Cruise? :-> It's a bit different story, but it just came to my mind. The time will come when you will be monitored 24h by retina-scanners whereever you go. This RFID-hack is just a small step towards loosing all your privacy.

I could even imagine that the ability to read the owner and validity date from the cards without encryption (or authorization) might even be intentional (by design) and not a mistake or so. Sad
