I successfully used
NTPWEdit v0.3 launched from an XP-based
Ultimate Boot Disk for Windows to unlock and change the password of the administrator user on a Windows 7 (Ultimate, 32 bit) PC. It's a GUI tool and is based on code from
Offline NT Password & Registry Editor.
I'm writing this down as a reminder since UBCD4WIN contains
Sala's Password Renew too, but there are reports of incompatibilities between Sala's tool and Windows 7 (at least some people complained in Sala's forum that changing a Win 7 user's password with the tool resulted in a messed up system ... the password could not be altered after it was "touched" by Sala's tool).
