I happen to possess a
Vosonic VP8360 multimedia viewer (as Vosonic calls it
). It's a very handy little tool and it got recently a firmware update with numerous bug fixes and some new features.
Here's a complete list of changes:
- Add video recording schedule function.
- Add Matrix highest score record function.
- Add "zoom window" and "real size view" for PhotoViewer.
- Add PhotoViewer "histogram" support.
- Add WMA Pro Plus supporting.
- Add interlace NTSC/PAL output support in OPTIONS.
- Add AC3 support for XviD.
- Add 3 photo transition effects: "fade in", "resolve" and "wipe out".
- Add "total item count and total size information" of current directory.
- Add PSP MPEG-4 format supporting.
- Enhance "Backup" function to show a summary when completed.
- Add RAW file support: Kodak P880, Sony DSC-R1 (.SR2), DMC-LX1, Lecia R8/R9, Minolta DiMAGE 7, Canon 30D, Canon 1D MarkII N.
- Support Jukebox playlist delete, clear and save.
- Add playing FM radio in background.
- Add text veiwer for SRT file.
- Fix MJPEG for large file hang bug.
- Fix Nikon D200 compressed RAW color display.
- Fix MAX_LONGNAME_LENGTH to 255. System will crash when filename is longer than 113 characters.
- Fix crash bug while playing Canon 300D RAW file.
- Fix Minolta Dynax 5D/7D RAW color issue (more green).
- Fix MPEG-1 green screen bug after playing DivX or JPEG files.
- Fix PhotoViewer "Change Info" control. And, change "Change Info" to "Display Settings".
- Fix MPEG-4 (DivX) and wave sychronization bug.
- Fix DivX loading bug. Sometimes system will crash while loading about 99%.
My experience was that video playback got a lot better.
First of all it can now play XviD videos with AC3 sound too, which (imho) adds a major boost to the usability of the device. I have some movies where the video and the audio got out of sync ... most probably because the player has not enough CPU power to decode both at real-time. Now the sync problem got solved and the movie simply lags. I could watch "The Incredibles" without lagging (it's a 608x256 movie with 1044 kbps bitrate and AC3 sound), but watching "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire" (it's a 656x272 movie with 865 kbps bitrate and AC3 sound) produced some lagging. I think the resolution of the video is the major bottleneck regarding the continuous playback. Actually the device has a 320x240 physical resolution and recoding movies to these dimensions might solve any lagging problems.
