I didn't even know that in UK and USA they scan your shoes at the airport during the check in procedure.

However Bruce Scheier has
found a way to defeat the scanning procedure at the Heathrow airport. The flaw is the same that many computer security implementations make: always recheck security if you decide to split a step of the process into two! Anyway ... it's quite ridiculus to scan shoes. Do they really think that this will prevent terrorists from smuggling explosives onboard?

They say it's politicians who think of these "preventive measures". Maybe we should include the old rule
"a chain is only as strong as its weakest link" in elentary school's thematics. It might be the last place where we can reach the little wannabe politicians ... :->
