It seems that
botnets became the next big thing in recent years' cybercrime. There's one botnet that is mentioned quite frequently these days in the media:
Storm. According to articles, Storm is just as sophisticated, decentralized, like a peer-to-peer file-sharing network. One cannot kill it just by taking down some nodes ... you've to take down all of them or it'll regenerate. Of course, this is not surprising. It was just a question of time that criminals start to utilize the theory of decentralized networks since it works so well. Apparently the only way to fight these is to globally (world-wide) raise the level of self-defense of installed PCs out there. Of course security specialists can try to create a global honeynet, but it'll be of little use imho.
